Things to know concerning temptations
God will not allow you to be tempted above your strength.
What that means is that any temptation you meet, you have the capacity to overcome but you fell. So whatever temptation you encounter, God knows you can go through it.
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
1 Corinthians 10:13
Some people feel that the temptations they are facing are special cases but the verse in 1 Corinthians 10:13 makes us realize that, the temptation you are going through is not new. Someone went through it and overcame it and so can you. So your case is not peculiar to you.
A way of escape
We can all overcome temptations because God has provided a way of escape. Unfortunately even when we see the door of escape we do not run out but rather stay in.
Loss of Destiny
Yielding to temptation leads to loss of destiny, punishment and the ultimate destruction or death.
And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
All this happened to Adam and Eve because they yielded to the temptation from the devil.
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. James 1:14
Rewards and Promotions
There are rewards and promotions for overcoming temptations both spiritual and physical.
Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. James 1:12

Dear Lord Jesus,
I am a sinner and cannot save myself.
